The SB x AJ 1 Defiant "LA to Chicago" AKA “Court Purple” is one of two collaborative colourways released by NK skateboarding division and AJ Brand in 2019. The unique editions of the AJ 1 have the leather on the upper painted in one colour combination, while a second colourway is hidden underneath. The bottom layer can be revealed as the top layer of paint is worn away. This “Court Purple” edition of the AJ 1 features a purple, white, and yellow combination that is inspired by a rare original sample of the shoe from 1985 in Los Angeles Lakers team colours. When the top layer is worn off, the original “Chicago” colourway is revealed underneath. The limited edition SB x AJ 1 “LA to Chicago” released on May 25, 2019.
